Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on the content. Scanned and photo-heavy PDFs often shrink by half or more; PDFs that are mostly text may barely change because there is little to compress.
Will the text stay selectable?
Yes. Compression works on images and internal structure; text stays text.
The result is bigger than my original — why?
That can happen with files that are already well optimised. In that case keep your original.
What happens to my file?

Do I need an account?
No. You can use the tool without signing up. The PDF tools have no task limit; the PDF Editor allows a few free downloads per day without an account. Members can use the tools as much as they like and save results to their My Object drive.
